Did you know Charlie is back with YWAM ¡Hola!? I have been remiss in my updates.
Even before he returned home in June, Charlie was considering a return. This semester he is engaged in a Leadership and Pioneering class and is feeling right at home again in Mexico City. He is sharing this experience with some of the same students as well as with some new faces. The foundation of the course is focused on starting, leading, and sustaining ministry. The YWAM ¡Hola! base will be the experiential learning site for this team. What that means is that part of the class will be committed to evaluating their site practices and priorities and thinking of new ways they might engage with the community (immediate "home" community as well as neighborhoods and the city) to expand the kingdom. That's what it's all about, really - expanding the kingdom.
Many people ask, what's next? What does Charlie hope to do with his learning? His answer is simple - "Follow God's Call" He is listening and learning and is wholeheartedly committed. There's a lesson in that for me.
I wanted to share one photo because I think it is powerful and might share a lesson with you. The YWAM ¡Hola! "base" is three houses (girls, guys, couples). It is the home site for current learning students (right now there are two active schools), but also home to students returning from service and in between is home to students mid-service. Last week, a group was preparing to be sent out into ministry/evangelism, a time of celebration within the YWAM community. The students line up across from one another and hold hands. Each student being sent out to ministry is then tossed, rolled, and carried across the sea of arms. This "moving" and "carrying" is a symbol of the prayer that has prepared them and will sustain them.
